On March 19-21, GeoKnow joined forces with the LOD2 project to present their goals and achievements at the European Data Forum in Athens, Greece. The event at the Royal Olympic Hotel in the heart of the Greek capital was opened by a welcome speech by Ms. Neelie Kroes, the European Commissioner for Digital Agenda.
The European Data Forum (EDF) is an annual meeting place for industry, research, policy makers, and community initiatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities of data in Europe, especially in the light of recent developments such as Open Data, Linked Data and Big Data.
Over the course of three days, the team got to showcase the highlights of GeoKnow, but also learn about the popular European projects and initiatives dealing with (linked) open data, and even exchange ideas with the likeminded guests (open data supporters and experts alike) and members of other consortia.
On the last day of the gathering, GeoKnow participated in the Linked Data Europe (LDE) workshop, where the team both presented the GeoKnow Generator, and provided the audience with an opportunity for some hands-on experience with the Generator and its components.
